Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Sugar-Free Hot Cocoa

One of my favorite winter treats is hot cocoa, but the thought of drinking hot cocoa from a packet doesn't sound appealing. So, I wanted to create a gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free version that I could share with my kids. What follows is the recipe I've perfected over the last couple of years.
